Solo Exhibition, “Secrets and Silence,” The Cube, Abu Dhabi

Secrets and Silence is meditation through the mediums of sound and ceramic on the permanence of secrecy through the silence surrounding it.  Secrets are as permanent as they are fragile.  Break the silence and you break the secret.  

5000 years ago humanities oldest surviving written records were impressed into clay.  Enclosed within each of the rectangular boxes is a secret.  The clay box is a physicalization of silence.  To expose the secret, the silence must be broken, but break the silence and you break the secret.  

Silence is the absence of sound. By breaking and ending that absence, the secret can no longer exist and is itself therefore absent, inverting the normal relationship between the secret and the spoken, and sound and silence.
